Welcome!

Announcement, announcement, announcement! Purely Chic Weddings and Events is officially up and running. We are celebrating this milestone with our first blog post. We're going to start off by giving you our predictions of upcoming trends for Winter 2009 and Spring 2010 weddings. Enjoy!

1. Branded weddings. Forget the bland monogram... brand your wedding with a monochramatic color scheme (think blues and purples for Winter, or yellows and greens for Spring), or symbols (like a bird or a tree).  Have this theme emanate from your ceremony and reception to create one flawless and flowing look.

2. Do it yourself projects. We carry an exclusive line of Invitations by Emily. She produces wonderfully unique invites that you put together yourself. Her are some of her sketches for the last wedding invitations she did...

3. Die cut theme weddings. Start off right by sending out an invite like this from Sandstone Invitations that makes a statement. Carry it throughout all of your wedding events- bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception.

4. Birdcage veils. they first made an appearance on the wedding scene in 1904!
I love this one by Belaire Bridal...

5. Geometric shapes and fabrics. These fun and modern prints can be used for everything from your invitations to bridesmaids dresses. Check out these wonderfully flirty ideas:

Place centerpieces containing blue or green flowers over this black and white fabric by Elkabee Fabric Paradise (www.fabricparadise.com) for a modern and artistic feel to your reception. Add some candles to set a romantic ambience.

6. Fair Trade. Green and Eco-friendly weddings have been all the rave for the past few years. However, brides tend to be leaning towards more fair trade or social justice alternatives these days. Some ideas...

Bright colored pumps are wonderful for the ceremony and reception, but what about your pre-wedding attire? Purchase a pair of Tom's wedding shoes for you and your bridesmaids to relax in. For every pair you purchase, a pair will be given to a child in need. http://www.tomsshoes.com/

Instead of giving out favors, considering making a donation to a charity of your choice in honor of your guests. You can let them know of this donation by placing a framed sign at the entrance to your reception. Some charities to consider:

Compassion International

International Justice Mission

Or, find a charity you like at:

Another great idea for favors is fair trade coffee or chocolate. The people who produce these goods get a fair price, and you get a wonderful favor for your guests! Some brands we here at Purely Chic really love...

Divine Chocolate: www.divinechocolate.com

Buywell Coffee- Fair trade and Organic! http://www.buywellcoffee.com/

To find fair trade gifts for your bridal party, check out Yobel Market, which is locally owned.

Well, we're going to say goodbye- but don't fret! Watch for our update next week. We will be giving a facelift to the boring guestbook. Toodaloo for now!
